Hello everyone! Today, I have the pleasure of putting an amazing Blog Talk co-host and author in the spotlight. Her Heven & Hell series consists of two novellas, two full-length novels, with more on the way, making her a juggernaut in the YA genre. Her writing is as passionate as her radio presence. So…without further adieu, here’s Cambria Hebert!

Hello everyone!!

I am so glad to be here today! My name is Cambria Hebert and I am afraid of chickens…yes that’s actually true. LOL. But aside from my strange phobia I am a writer – the author of the Heven and Hell series. It is a Young Adult paranormal series.  I am also a coffee addict (I’ll take a latte!), a blogger and a blog talk radio hostess (http://www.blogtalkradio.com/journaljabber). I’m also a super hero that wears a unitard and goggles. Hee hee hee. Okay, I don’t do that.

Here is a glance at my series:

Before (Heven and Hell #0.5) – A novella detailing what Heven was like before she met Sam, before she was scarred and before her life changed forever.

Masquerade (Heven and Hell #1) – The first novel in this series. Heven is disfigured, her self-confidence shattered and she can’t even remember what happened to her. She is a mere shell of who she used to be and everywhere she goes she feels like she is being watched. Because she is. Sam comes along with his whiskey colored eyes and raspy voice and makes her feel things she thought she never would. But Sam has secrets. Dangerous ones.

Between (Heven and Hell #1.5) – A novella dedicated to a new, puzzling character that arrives at the end of Masquerade. Logan is Sam’s brother and he also might be trouble.

Charade (Heven and Hell #2) – The second novel in this series. Heven’s stalker might be out of the picture, she and Sam might be stronger than ever, but so is the danger. Witches, demons and even a dragon appear in this novel and they are all after the one thing Heven and Sam are trying to return to Italy, to its rightful place. New characters, new enemies, new betrayal. You decide who is real and who is putting on a Charade.

Book 3 in the series, Tirade, will be released November 30, 2012 and there will also be a new novella titled, Bewitched, to be released October 5, 2012!

Excerpt from Masquerade

The street was dark and deserted. I wished, not for the first time, that I had a car. But I didn’t, and I’d spent too long in the library, so now I had to walk home in the dark. It was a clear night, and there were a million stars nestled in the sky, twinkling brightly alongside the moon. I was nearly home, my street just yards away. The night was quiet, exaggerating the sound my heels were making on the pavement. Usually, I liked the clicking sound; it made me feel womanly, and it announced my arrival. However, at this moment, it seemed I shouldn’t announce my presence. I slowed slightly, gentling my steps and glanced to my right at a wooded, overgrown lot. I imagined something hiding in the brush, watching. I laughed a little at my silliness, but quickened my pace. This time, allowing my heels to slap loudly on the pavement, hoping the sound would ward off any animals that might be around. Behind me I sensed movement and whirled around to confront it.

There was nothing there.

I began walking again. I’d walked this street many times, I knew it was safe.

Wasn’t it?

Just as I passed an empty lot, I heard some rustling and turned back. Something was definitely there, a dark shape unfurling from the weeds.

My heart beat fast, and my stomach cramped with nerves as I began to run. I wasn’t fast enough, and whatever was stalking me caught up. I fell forward, something heavy and warm pressing me down onto the cold pavement. I tried to scream, but the sound lodged in my throat. A hideous sound built low and filled my ears…

I bolted upright, heart pounding. It was just a dream. A stupid nightmare. Except it wasn’t stupid, and it wasn’t just a dream. I tossed the covers off and headed to the bathroom, feeling sticky and clammy with sweat. The water was cool and felt like silk running through my fingers. I scooped the water in my hands and splashed it on my cheeks. I froze, fingering the raised, puckered scars that distorted the left side of my face. No, it hadn’t been a stupid dream. It was an unnecessary reminder of reality.

The dreams had been haunting me so long I knew that it would be impossible to find sleep again tonight, so I didn’t bother to go back to bed. The soft sheets and fluffy pillows didn’t offer the same comfort they had Before. Bed was now the place I was haunted by unanswered questions. I shut off my alarm and turned, glancing at the window. A strange feeling of being watched crept over me, and I padded over to peek out from behind the curtain. I don’t know what I was looking for, only that I had a feeling that something was there. Chills raced along my skin and the hair on the back of my neck stood on end as I looked out into the dark. I resisted the urge to turn and look over my shoulder, but then something caught my eyea movement within the shadows. I squinted and pressed closer to the cold glass of the window hoping for a glimpse of whatever was there. After long, tense minutes, I gave up. Of course, there wasn’t anything there. I was beyond exhausted from lying in bed at night worrying, paranoid about being watched, knowing that I wasn’t. Why couldn’t I shake this feeling that I wasn’t safe?

With one last look at the empty yard and a deep sigh, I went back into the bathroom, careful to avoid the mirror. I went through my usual routine of brushing my teeth and washing my face. I grasped my brush and looked up into the mirror above the sink. I began brushing the very long, very blond thickness of my hair, taking care to part it low on the right and smooth it over to conceal as much of my face as possible. I tried distracting myself with the features that weren’t so bad like my sky blue eyes and pimple free skin. There was a light smattering of freckles over my nose and cheeks and my lips were full and a natural peach color. How close I came to having the left side of my lips ruined. I shivered, and the action sent my hair momentarily away from my face, revealing what I hadn’t wanted to see.

And coming in October…

For years, I accepted that Heven was more popular than me. I never liked it but I lived with it. I walked in her shadow, I stood by her when no one else would. When I finally thought her spotlight was mine things began to change. She began to change. Now she hardly ever calls me back, she spends all her time with her hot new boyfriend and everyone at school thinks she’s back on top. She had it all. But apparently she wants more. She wants Cole – my boyfriend. What’s worse is that it looks like she got him. I’ve had enough and she’s going to be sorry. Why?

Because I am bewitched.

Yes…the title says it all. Three Hobbit movies instead of two according to the Huffington Post article by Joe Satran. In his article, he revealed that Peter Jackson announced his intention to split his vision of the Hobbit into three separate features.

The Hobbit Movie News also reported the movie being split into three segments. They wrote: Jackson dropped hints about this at Comic-Con, explaining he had a wealth of storytelling that came from 125 pages of appendices that JRR Tolkien included in a later publication of The Return Of The King, the final installment of The Lord Of The Rings.

Now for the aftermath.

There are mixed murmurings about the announcement. Some believe the decision was based solely out of greed, while others hold it’s the best path for Tolkien’s prequel to Lord of the Rings. Personally, I believe it’s both. And I see nothing wrong with making an extra buck, so long as the endeavor does not jeopardise the content. This is J R R Tolkien’s book and as far as I’m concerned, there is no room for error.

Another point to consider for splitting the movies is what was not in the forefront of the Hobbit. If you remember reading the Hobbit, Gandalf left Bilbo and the Dwarves from time to time, and returned during moments where things looked dire. But do you know why Gandalf left? I will not be the spoiler, but if you are a true Tolkien fan, then you know why, and perhaps Peter Jackson will be covering some of that storyline.

But let us first take a collective deep breath and slowly exhale. Afterall, we did trust Peter Jackson with The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and he in turn did not fail us. So, please refrain from pointing your butter soaked finger from the comfort of your movie seat, and let us give the Director a chance before we petition to have him hung by the entrails.

Matt, Bj, Amber and Max – Staff of the Peppermill

June 30th marked the day of the Shadows of Kings Release Party. It was the first time in months that I was able to take a deep breath and enjoy the moment. Friends and family gathered to join me this night as well as fans and patrons of the Peppermill Restaurant and Lounge. The staff was adorned in my swag, and let me tell you…they looked great. But for all the pomp and circumstance, I was honestly humbled by the showing and filled with enormous gratitude. Everyone in attendance, in some way or another has supported me on this journey. I can’t say thank you enough. For those who could not take part, you missed a fun time.

Now to the pictures. I wish there could have been more of them, but as the night progressed, so did the

level of consumption. Luckily, I was able to complete my signing responsibilities before a few rum & cokes turned to four and five. Also…the demon-like white eyes in nearly all my shots were not intentional…or was it? A big thanks again to all who attended.

And a special THANK YOU  to Amber, Max (Young squire), Matt, and BJ, who tirelessly served our drinks and food to us in a timely and efficient manner. You guys are the best!

Me and Staff.
