I want to express my “thanks” to all the wonderful souls who spoke with me during the Pagan Faire. It was wonderful to be one of the many vendors participating at this year’s event. I couldn’t have asked for a better turnout of current and future fans of the Dragon Rising Series. SHADOWS OF KINGS had a good showing, which is encouraging as the SHADES OF VIRTURE release draws near.

Artwork for SHADES OF VIRTUE is being worked on as we speak…and I must say, the sketches for the book cover look amazing. The weeks and months prior to release are very stressful, so please keep me in your thoughts as that date approaches. I promise to keep you posted with updates as they unfold.

Oceans of Love,

Jack

Hello everyone!

Sharp Writ Book AwardsNow that we have survived the Mayan calendar and the Fiscal Cliff, the new year holds wonderous possibilities. 2013 has started with a bang for the Dragon Rising series. Shadows of Kings won the best sci-fi/fantasy novel for 2012 at the Sharp Writ Book Awards. As proud as I am of the first installment to my saga, it was wonderful to win this award in such a broad category with other amazing authors. I was satisfied by just making it to the final round, but when notified of taking first place, needless to say, I was elated and still find myself walking with a little more swagger.

On another note:  there are whispers of a Shadows of Kings movie script being put together. The screenplay will be a collaboration between myself and a group of writers in Northern California. But until there is more on the development side, I’m afraid there is not much more I can tell you.

The final edits are underway for the second book of the Dragon Rising series. Shades of Virtue is still projected to be released by Twilight Times Books in Summer 2013. I’m also hoping the book cover will be completed soon, but like everything else…I just have to wait. For those who were expecting Shades of Virtue to be released in Spring of 2013 instead of Summer, I apologize. Twilight Times Books had some delays with releases prior to mine, so the pipeline became a little backlogged. Though scheduling is out of my hands, I  am still  sorry if you were hoping to read it by Spring. But I promise, the delay will be worth the wait.

PRICE BUZZ:  For those who prefer paperback rather than e-book, Amazon.com currently has the best price for Shadows of Kings at $13.46. Kindle and Nook formats are still $3.99. Just want to make sure potential readers are saving a buck! Oh…and if you’re in the Portland, Or. area, my favorite bookstore to snag my novel is still Jan’s Paperbacks.

Shadows of Kings also has a spotlight/review within the January issue of BTS eMag.

I think that covers it. Many thanks to all those who have sent warm sentiments in regards to my award. And a special thanks to those who continue to express an interest with the Dragon Rising series.

Oceans of Love,

Jack

Hello everyone! I’m sorry for not posting anything for a spell. I’ve been so busy coordinating my blog tour with the various websites along with other promotional endeavors. However, I decided to take a pause in order to give my subscribers the 411.

The print run for the book is underway and the teaser book trailer is complete. The trailer will be distributed on multiple sites in mid May. Shadows of Kings should also be listed on Amazon.com pretty soon as well. Release date is still set for June 15th. Whew!

Oh…almost forgot. The book cover’s font was adjusted slightly as well. Pretty snazzy.

Oceans of love,

Jack

Jack Whitsel has placed the epic fantasy Shades of Virtue with Twilight Times Books. Shades of Virtue is the second book in the Dragon Rising series.

In Shades of Virtue, nearly two years have passed since the Harhn incursion. While the Hugue recovers from the devastation, the Order of the Secret Throne resumes their agenda. Lord Yannic and his armies march the breadth of the Vol Thaldane to rally the divided human fiefdoms into the new realm of Shyrlandia.

In the Hugue, a jousting tournament is about to commence that could shape the future of the Hugue Principalities. But from her tower in Kethalon, Rizela, the Darkfey sorceress conspires and schemes to manipulate the tournament for her own ends.
